Wayne Robbins is featured September artist
Markings Gallery is pleased to have Wayne Robbins as our featured artist for September, and presenter at this month’s gallery talk Thursday, Sept. 13 from 5-7 p.m. Refreshments will be provided by Mae’s Café.
Born and raised on the coast of Maine, Robbins was inspired as a youth to capture the essence of nature in wood. As he developed his art, he found that time in his studio complemented his career as a biology teacher.
He has led numerous whale-watching trips, was a long time volunteer in Maine mammal rescue efforts and presents lively nature programs to groups of all ages.
Robbins also enjoys teaching the art of woodcarving. Robbins’ sculptures are found in collections around the world and can be purchased in several select galleries along the Maine coast as well as at his home gallery.
Now more than ever before our oceans are being threatened by climate change and pollution. Through his teaching and art, Wayne Robbins creatively seeks to share his passion for the sea and to inspire sustainable practices in order to protect and preserve Earth’s fragile ecosystems. From shore birds to whales, Robbins pays tribute to this fragile heritage.
Markings Gallery is located at 50 Front St., in downtown Bath.
