The Butkes', weaver Jill and painter John, will be exhibiting their latest work in the River Arts West Gallery Sept. 13-26.  Jill and John, retired art educators, have a seasonal gallery, The Butke Gallery, on Sawyer’s Island in Boothbay. 

John will be showing his landscapes in watercolor, oil and acrylic. He has been painting the beauty and allure of the Maine landscape, both in studio and plein air, for over 40 years.

Jill has been weaving for over 45 years. A collection of wearable items which combine colors and fibers into woven clothing pieces with a contemporary flair will be on display in the show.

Come and meet Jill and John in the West Gallery on Saturday, Sept. 15 and 22 from noon to 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

The Butkes’ will be at the River Arts opening reception in the main gallery for the “Artists Choice” exhibit Friday, Sept. 21, 5-7 p.m.

River Arts is located at 241 U.S. Route 1 in Damariscotta. Gallery hours are: Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
