Seniors and staff at Wiscasset Middle High School have selected Sydnie Thayer, Class of 2019, as the school’s 2018 DAR Good Citizen. The opportunity to participate in the DAR Good Citizens program and scholarship contest is sponsored by the Pemaquid Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

To be eligible for this honor, a DAR Good Citizen must exhibit the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism to an outstanding degree. Thayer was chosen for good reason. She is senior class president and captain of the basketball and softball teams.

Thayer is also a school-wide elected officer of the WHS Student Council. As secretary, Thayer has organized and carried out large projects for her community such as the annual Community Haunted High School event and the successful community fundraiser Drive 4UR School.

Thayer will graduate from WMHS June 9. She plans to attend the University of Maine.
