Feed Our Scholars benefit paint party Friday
On Friday, Feb. 8, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Feed Our Scholars Backpack Initiative will hold a paint party in St. Philip’s church hall, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset. For $30, all art materials are provided by Sue Begin of Augusta’s Cre8tive Events. Also included in the price will be a delectable array of home baked desserts and nonalcoholic beverages to help energize those creative impulses.
Begin will guide attendees as they dob and dab their way to producing a lovely winter painting of a chickadee in the snow to take away, possibly for a Valentine’s Day gift, or to proudly display in one’s home. This event is open to all ages, and no painting experience or expertise is necessary.
To add to the fun, troubadour for many of Feed Our Scholars’ events Matt O’Donnell will again be strumming as the paint flies onto the canvases.
Feed Our Scholars provides nutritious, easy-to-prepare weekend meals to chronically hungry children attending Wiscasset schools, continuing support during the summer for those taking part in the area’s summer feeding program, and plans to support a Set-for-Success event in August. Children attending will come away with school supplies, snacks and other items for the start of the new school year.
Space is limited for the paint party. While people can walk in the night of the event, for planning purposes, it is important to register for tickets ahead of time.
Contact the church at 882-7184, leaving a name, number of attendees and a return phone number, or contact Sharman at 687-8258 or pakngo@comcast.net
Should Friday’s weather not cooperate, a postponement till Sunday, Feb. 10 at the same time will be announced on the facebook page, local television stations, and the church phone.
