WMHS releases June 11 graduation ‘quick guide’
Wiscasset Middle High School released the following on Friday, June 5.
Graduation Quick Guide for Wiscasset Speedway ceremony, parade through town, and the fireworks:
6 to 6:30 p.m. Senior and immediate family parking; 6:30-7 p.m. general parking.
Remember to arrive at 6 p.m. on June 11 at the “Pit Entrance” check-in.
Declare at virtual marching practice whether one or two cars are needed for immediate family members’ parking.
If windows are down in the vehicle, masks must be worn as per guidelines.
All passengers must remain in vehicles except graduates. Ushers will assist in parking areas. Please follow all directions from ushers, arrows and namecards.
A photographer will take the picture of all graduates receiving their diploma. Guests should not leave vehicles to take pictures.
Masks must be worn at all times except by the speakers when they are speaking.
Graduate family vehicles will exit the speedway on the access road directly after the ceremony to line up for the parade. Fire trucks and police cars will be in back of the pit area.
In the parade line-up, all passengers must stay in the vehicle. The spectators in all vehicles other than immediate parade participants will exit through the speedway exit road.
Parade route through town: Leave Wiscasset Speedway, take a right onto West Alna Road, proceed to Route 218 (Federal Street), proceed all the way to Wiscasset Elementary School, take a right onto Hooper Street, take a right on to Route 27 and proceed to WMHS.
Graduates park closest to the lower baseball and softball fields. All other spectators fill in WMHS parking and extra parking at Wiscasset Community Center. Party food packets will be delivered to each graduate.
During fireworks, all spectators must remain in vehicles at all times. (Reminder, if vehicle windows are open, masks must be worn.)
At the conclusion of the fireworks display, all graduates may exit the area prior to spectators.
Please follow all the recommended guidelines to make the WMHS Class of 2020 graduation safe and a positive experience for all involved! Social distancing/safety guidelines need to be followed at all times.
