Wiscasset grad’s mortarboard with meaning
Wiscasset Middle High School Class of 2020’s Julia Murphy planned to have her bird Finley on her shoulder at graduation. “But (Finley) sadly passed away in May of 2018,” Murphy’s “proud Mumma” Heather Murphy-Shipley told Wiscasset Newspaper.
Murphy-Shipley said the artwork on her daughter’s cap at graduation was “a loving tribute” to Finley, who was a member of Murphy’s “array of non-traditional pets.” Murphy, a 2020 Bath Regional Career Technical Center “outstanding student” and a 2020 Maine Administrators of CTE “student of the year,” will attend Southern Maine Community College and wants to be a medical examiner, her mother added.
