Sculpture Boothbay on the move
On Thursday, Aug. 20, a new “Sculpture Boothbay” installation took place on the Brick House lawn next to House of Logan. “Head Wind” is made of Hillburn granite. This fabulous piece is inspired by coloration of the granite which matches the actual colors of an eagle owl and contortions of wings that an owl can undertake. The sculptor is, Andreas Von Huene, who refined his sculpture to develop the character of the piece and give it a dynamic presence. Enjoy this beauty as it cascades off of Brick House Hill.
“Mountain Lake,” Bill Royall’s sculpture, was removed from Brick House Hill to Mama D’s Restaurant. The piece of stone used to create this piece is from J.C Stone in Jefferson. Bill’s sculptures are usually inspired by nature with a meditative image. This significant sculpture represents the classic beauty of mountains meeting the water.
The installation team was led by Robbie Campbell of Campbell Marine with Al Morton as crane operator, Chris Peters and Nathaniel Pitcher. Glen Rines assisted with the landscaping. Also assisting was sculptor Andreas von Huene. The installation of both pieces took patience and expertise over three hours, using trucks, cranes and pulleys and positioning the huge sculptures and granite bases.
Thank you to this great team and the generosity of the House of Logan and Mama D’s restaurant.
