‘Art in the Square’ call to artists
Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF) is once again gearing up for the ever-popular 12” x 12” Art in the Square exhibit. Now is the time for regional artists to get a canvas and create a masterpiece – and a challenge for people of all ages to use their imagination to paint, draw, glue, print, weave or whatever upon a 12 x 12 surface that has a means for hanging in the gallery.
The purpose of this endeavor is to raise money for BRAF’s Scholarship Fund and sponsorship of the Annual PreK -12th Grade Student Art Show. It also benefits the local economy since artist/participants gain $75 of each $125 dollar canvas sold. Customers also gain a chance to purchase original artwork just in time for Holiday gift giving.
Finished squares need to be delivered to the gallery at 1 Townsend Ave. in Boothbay Harbor Nov. 22, 23, and 24.
The show opens on Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving. The exhibit doors open at 11 am. Based on tradition, sales are brisk most of the day.
This year, due to COVID-19, BRAF will be monitoring customer numbers at the door; with groups of six allowed in at one time. There will be the standard distancing of viewers, using the six-foot spacing rule. Masks will be mandatory. BRAF will supply masks to those who need them,
Gallery hours are now Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Jan 3, 2021.
