Coastal Rivers offers weekly naturalist ‘fireside chats’

There are many interesting things going on in backyards and woodlots, even in the cold of winter. Trees, birds, and many animals, for example, have adapted to freezing temperatures in fascinating ways.
These topics and many more will be the subject of discussion during weekly “fireside chats,” every Tuesday in January and February from 3 to 4 p.m., with naturalist Sarah Gladu. The programs are free of charge and will take place online using the Zoom platform. To receive a link to join the meeting, participants must register online at coastalrivers.org/events
This relaxed and unstructured program is for anyone who has nature observations to share or questions about topics in nature.
With a 28-year career in environmental education, Gladu is director of education and environmental monitoring for Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust, where she has been running the education program since 2005. She has a master’s degree in environmental learning and leadership from the University of Minnesota.
Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust is a non-profit, nationally accredited land trust with active programs in land conservation, water quality, trails and public access, and nature education in the Damariscotta-Pemaquid region.
