“Animated Shorts” (PG-13; 1 hour, 39 minutes) Final screenings Wednesday, April 7 at 2 p.m. and Thursday, April 8 at 7 p.m. Please note: the animated shorts program overall, while excellent, deals with some tough issues, and a few of the films are not suitable for children under 12. “The Father” (PG-13; 1 hour 37 minutes) - Anthony (Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins) is 80, mischievous, living defiantly alone, and rejecting the caregivers that his daughter, Anne (Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Olivia Colman), encouragingly introduces. Yet help is also becoming a necessity for Anne; she cannot make daily visits anymore and Anthony’s grip on reality is unraveling. As we experience the ebb and flow of his memory, how much of his own identity and past can Anthony cling to? How does Anne cope as she grieves the loss of her father, while he still lives and breathes before her? Nominations: four Golden Globes and six Academy Awards. Playing at 2 and 7 p.m. on Friday, April 9, Saturday, April 10, Wednesday, April 14, Thursday, April 15; and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 11.
