Summer Writing Adventures at the Merry Barn are filling fast! We’d love for you to join us as we: Write…Read…Explore…Walk & Sketch in Nature…Create Art…Perform Poetry & Readers’ Theater…Learn from a Published Children’s Author…Practice Yoga & Mindfulness…Create a Collection of Work…Celebrate & Share at an Authors’ Tea.
Camps include the two-day Great Graphic Novel Adventure and the three-day Under the Big Top at the Merry Barn. Week-long camps include Kids as Change Makers: Words & Art for a Better World; Gutsy Girls & Wise Women; Wondrous Words; and Under the Big Top. These camps are all geared to kids ages 8-14.
In response to requests for offerings for younger writers, we’ve opened the Sense of Place week-long adventure (July 19-23) to children entering first and second grade in September. We’ll spend much of the day outdoors. We’ll explore and write about the natural world, map our favorite places, and create art with found objects.
The Young Readers’ Book Club will meet on Wednesday afternoons from 4-5:30 p.m. both in-person and via Zoom. The group is designed for enthusiastic readers ages 9-14.
The Merry Barn is again partnering with Coastal College Advising of Brunswick, to help rising seniors get a jump start on the college application process. The three-day College Essay Workshop, and two-day Common Application Bootcamp, are excellent opportunities for students to complete most of the written work of applying to college before senior year begins.
We will follow all CDC recommendations, including masking, social distancing, and handwashing. We’ll spend lots of time outdoors and limit the number of campers per session.
At the Merry Barn, we are committed to helping all children discover a love of words. We offer financial assistance to any child wishing to participate in our events.
