Waldo Theater Gallery exhibtion
The Waldo Theatre, at 916 Main St., Waldoboro, launches its gallery space with a group art show of 13 artists featuring “Creatures of Maine,” on Wednesday, July 7.
Thirteen Maine artists present 40 images of Maine creatures. The 40 images feature a wide range of media: oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, monotype, woodcut, ink, linocut, and gouache on used tea bags. Inspiration for the exhibition is reflected in a quote from William Blake, “How do you know but that ev’ry Bird that cuts the airy way, Is an immense world of delight ...”
Curated by Chris Augusta and Dick Koubek, the show offers a wide range of people and their images. The artists include Chris Augusta and Holly Berry - Waldoboro; Pam Cabanas - Friendship; Lucia de Leiris of Waltham Massachusetts; Linda Gallion - Jefferson, Sandy Griffin - Edgecomb; Dick Koubek and Mary Sue Weeks from Bremen; Katie Lee - Nobleboro, Stephanie Muri,and David Peloquin from Windsor; and Patty Parks and Barbara Vanderbilt from Whitefield.
A public reception for this free exhibition is set for Wednesday, July 7 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Waldo Gallery hours are Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. July 14-Aug. 25. Many of the works are for sale with a portion of sales benefiting The Waldo.
