BRAF’s August show: ‘Midsummer’s Dream’
Boothbay Region Art Foundation’s (BRAF) recently installed its August exhibit contains the new works of 100 local artists covering a variety of styles, subjects and media.
Reflecting the overall theme of this show, the front-entrance area contains a grouping that has a notably vintage-Victorian feel. The rest of the exhibit consists of land and seascapes with a sprinkling of still life, pottery, and wooden assemblages added into the mix.
Our two upstairs solo artists for this month are Marcia Brandwein and Lina Burley. Marcia’s collection, “Land, Sea and Sky,” is on display in the Harbor View room; and Lina Burley’s daughter, Linda, has installed selections of Lina’s work entitled “Reflections of Maine,” in the Gallery One room. Both shows continue through Aug. 30.
Our upstairs venue is truly a treasure trove of unique, collectable artwork, Not only are we fortunate to have current members work on display, but we also are the grateful recipients of donated pieces that reflect styles and techniques from an earlier time.
The Art Foundation is located at One Townsend Avenue in downtown Boothbay Harbor where the doors are open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. In August, we often stay open later, sometimes until 7 p.m. – when the sidewalk traffic stays busy and we delay closing time.
