Lisa Kyle exhibit at Miles
On display until Oct. 6 in the hall gallery at the Miles Hospital are 30 paintings by Waldoboro artist, Lisa Kyle. The paintings are in both oil and acrylic and explore the beauty of Midcoast Maine and Acadia. They seek to capture the energy and emotion of the landscape in paint.
Lisa often begins paintings with sketches, and often paints en plein air. In the winter, she paints in her studio, using sketches, on-site paintings and photographs as sources of inspiration. Whether they are created in the field or in her studio, she tries to capture some of the beauty of the natural world – the quality of the light, the simple yet compelling forms of the vernacular architecture, the subtle colors of the meadows, the magic skies of sunset.
Lisa and her husband moved to Maine four years ago from Maryland, where she was a practicing architect. Now she is following her dream to be a full-time painter, living in an old farmhouse in Maine!
Unfortunately, the exhibit is only open to staff and patients, due to Covid restrictions. Lisa hopes that her paintings will brighten the day and lift the spirits of those who are seeking care at the Miles Hospital, and especially the staff working during these difficult times.
