Call to Artists – ‘Black & White’ show
River Arts in Damariscotta invites artists to submit work for the next juried show, “Black & White.” This show is open to members and non-members. All mediums are welcome. The deadline for entries is Saturday, Jan. 15 at 4 p.m. River Arts is pleased to announce the juror will be architect and painter Jack Silverio.
Silverio studied architecture at Rhode Island School of Design and had his own architectural practice for 37 years. In recent years he has devoted himself full time to painting and sculpture. His current work is based on geometric studies, often employing progressions of forms using the Fibonacci Series or the Golden Ratio. He searches for qualities that are quiet and harmonious and which may best be described by the word radiance. Silverio has shown his work at the Caldbeck Gallery in Rockland, the Frank Brockman Gallery in Brunswick, Studio 53 in Boothbay Harbor, Unity College, and the University of Maine Hutchinson Center. Most recently he was a guest sculptor at MECA. Jack Silverio has written three books on architecture.
For members the entry fee is $15 and for non-members it is $30. All entries to the “Black & White” show must be gallery ready and clean. Artists may enter two pieces up to 48 inches (in any direction), including the frame. Entry forms are available in the gallery or online at riverartsme.org. Notification of juror’s selections will be made via email by Wednesday, Jan. 19. Unaccepted work should be picked up promptly during gallery hour. All submitted works must be for sale and River Arts retains 35% commission on sold works.
The “Black & White” show will run from Jan. 18 to Feb. 19. A reception will be held on Jan. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. Open hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
