‘Wild Things’ and ‘Big Girls’ at River Arts
River Arts in Damariscotta presents “Wild Things” in a show juried by art consultant Tammy Ackerman, former founder and executive director of Engine in Biddeford. The gallery invites the public to the artists’ reception on Saturday, May 14 from 2 to 4 p.m.
From 114 submitting artists, 70 artists were selected to exhibit works in “Wild Things.” Answering the call to create something wild, River Arts’ artists have delivered surprising, exhilarating and imaginative interpretations in their works. Wild creatures of all sorts appear along with captivating natural scenery. Abstractions expand the show with personal expressions of the meaning of wild. In an especially colorful show, there are also works that quietly communicate the grace of wildness. “Wild Things” runs from May 10 until June 11.
Isabella Corwin’s solo show “Big Girls” continues in the River Room. Corwin will be greeting visitors during the Saturday reception. Her enamel jewelry and grand paintings will be on display through May 18.
River Arts is located at 36 Elm St. in Damariscotta. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. River Arts continues to require masks for entry to the gallery and thanks visitors for their cooperation. For more information, visit the website: riverartsme.org or call 563-6868.
