First Friday moments
Art galleries are always a temptation to the art lover; a curiosity to others. Whatever the lure, people visited the six galleries in Boothbay Harbor holding open houses or receptions on First Friday, June 3.
The galleries – Boothbay Harbor Art Foundation (BRAF), Studio 53 Fine Art – with music by Aaron Robinson on harpsichord; Gleason Fine Art, Joy to the Wind, Black River Gallery and Ae Home/Alison Evans – featured new work and talked art, their favorite topic!
At BRAF, a new member show graced the walls. At Studio 53, it was the new work of gallery owners Heidi Seidelhuber and Terry Seaman. One of Seaman’s new works, “Not Your Typical System Entrophy,” was completed as he drove cross-country from Seattle for the season. At the bottom of the painting is: “This Ukranian atom and its subatomic particles are staging a patriotic opera buffa production in support of the Ukranian effort to thwart Putin’s vicious invasion ...”
Over on the East Side, artists Lynne and John Seitzer, owners of Joy to the Wind, shared new work. John sold two paintings. And all enjoyed chocolates and wine.
The Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce table outside Coastal Maine Popcorn had tour brochures with the participating galleries and a large map.
First Friday dates this year: July 1, Aug. 5, Sept. 2 and Oct. 7.
