Course correction
Dear Editor:
I have attended the Lincoln County forums and have watched the gubernatorial debate on television. I think a good summary of the Democratic candidates would be; what we are doing is working, we want to continue, and we want to spend more doing it. The Republican summary would be; it isn’t working; spending, regulations, and government involvement in our businesses and personal lives is out of control.
Mainers, their children, and our businesses are suffering. Control should be returned to the people and the government should step back. Changes are needed in Maine’s educational system, our welfare system, and priorities should be shifted to at least address the Mainers who are on waiting lists for services. State policies and resources should be realigned so businesses are coming to Maine rather than leaving.
We have had two years of complete Democratic control in Maine. Republicans have had no voice in Augusta. Hundreds of bills and program changes have been passed and implemented. Is it working for you? Are you and your family better off than you were two years ago? One side says stay the course and hit the gas. The other wants change. You, the voter gets to decide. I say send Republicans to Augusta and make a much-needed course correction.
