When enough is enough
Dear Editor:
The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, granted freedom of religion, speech, the press, the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Today's Democratic Party seems to have forgotten or simply doesn't believe in these constitutionally protected rights. This can be seen in the wokeness that has pervaded every aspect of life in the United States. “Systemic racism” and anti-white thinking has been injected into virtually everything, including in the K-12 classrooms of public schools.
Hostility toward people of faith, demonizing the police, protecting criminals, allowing open borders which expedite human and drug trafficking at the expense of law abiding Americans, seems to be the new “rule of law.” Our energy independence has been summarily stopped in favor of some “green” era for which we are ill prepared and if one dares to delve further, isn't “green” at all.
Here in Maine our energy and food prices have soared in part as a result of shutting down American fuel production. Our school children fall below standards for reading, math and science, Our taxes on individual and small businesses are high and now our lobster industry is under attack by an out of state entity.
In November we have a chance to reverse this destructive trend by voting for Republican candidates, who wholeheartedly support the following:
- Restore our domestic energy production in order to rein in high food and energy prices.
- Lower or eliminate state income taxes to help Mainers keep more of their money.
- Respect the rights of parents to know what their children are being taught in school.
- Restore legal immigration to help stop the influx of illegal drugs.
- Fight inflation by restoring fiscal responsibility.
- Protect our working waterfronts and our lobster and fishing industries as they are an integral part of Maine's economy
When Tulsi Gabbard, an Iraq war veteran, former Presidential candidate and former member of Congress quits the Democratic Party, maybe it's time to take a closer look at where our state and country is headed.
On Nov. 8 vote Republican to stand up and say enough is enough!
