Overdue thanks from Opera House
Dear Editor,
With Thanksgiving and the holiday season fast approaching, it’s time to extend an overdue thank you to our community near and far. It will surprise few that the music touring industry was silenced during the worst of the pandemic and as a result performance venues in Maine and around the country had to severely alter their operations or even close permanently.
Here at the Opera House, we have been extraordinarily fortunate. We have been open as much as prudent and we have brought national and international talent back to our stage. Without exception performers have raved about this remarkable community venue and the audiences we attract.
What we do, we do for this community. To all those who have supported the Opera House – by attending performances, becoming members, volunteering, sponsoring events, advertising in our summer program guide, sharing news of a show with friends or on social media, and making outright charitable contributions over the past two years, thank you. It is no exaggeration to state that we simply would not be here, planning 2022 holiday events and the 2023 season (our 20th!), without the steady, generous support of thousands of people near and far.
For the first time in a few years, we’ll be open this winter and look forward to not only the smiling faces at the Gingerbread Spectacular, but also to the local talents shining at Open Mic, and sharing more than a few fine nights of music with neighbors and friends. Happy Thanksgiving one and all.
