Two vie for Edgecomb selectmen’s seat
Lynn Norgang and Craig Urwin are running for the two-year unexpired selectmen’s term in Edgecomb on April 15. Voting will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. in the Edgecomb Town Hall.
Lynn Norgang
Address: 8 Cross Point Road
Occupation: Registered Nurse since 1973. Twenty-three years as the Executive Director and Residential Care Administrator at the Lincoln Home
Education: Montgomery College, Maryland, Nursing Degree: Licensed Residential Care Director, Certified Master Trainer of the Best Friends Approach to Dementia.
Committees and Boards: I served on a number of local Boards and Committees that supported Great Salt Bay School, Coastal Kids Preschool, Second Congregational Church Sunday School and Building Committee, Lincoln Home Board and committees. I was part of the major renovation and expansion project of Lincoln Home’s original building, a second major apartment renovation project as well as creating the Memory Loss Community, Harbor View Cottage, across the street.
Interests and Organizations: I am a life learner. Since retirement from the Lincoln Home, I now have the time to pursue my many interests such as rug hooking, gardening, quilting making, learning French, cooking, assistant beekeeper, to name a few, and perhaps most importantly, family and community time.
Three Most Pressing issues: Since filing nomination papers for this position in February, I have attended all the Select Board meetings where I have learned about some of the challenges brought to the Board and some of the concerns of the people of Edgecomb. The Select Board is responsible for the fiscal health and conducting the business of the town that affects the quality of living in Edgecomb. The costs involved in maintaining our natural resources, our school, our roads, meeting regulations and more are difficult and challenging. It is important that all opinions, ideas ,concerns, and suggestions are heard as valuable and important. Costs are on everyone’s mind and to date I have seen this to be a driving concern of the Select Board. If elected it will be a privilege to serve the people of Edgecomb and a joy to contribute to such a vibrant and beautiful place we all call home.
Craig Urwin
Occupation: Physician Assistant
Education: Undergraduate – BS Neuroscience from University of Michigan; Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies from Idaho State University
Political History: None
Clubs/Organizations: None
Issues: My key focus areas include: 1) Advancing the search for a town boat launch location and gathering place to foster community; 2) Bolstering support to meet the needs of students, teachers, parents and administrators engaged with our public school system; 3) Securing appropriate funding support for the Edgecomb Fire Department and their volunteers.
Additional Thoughts: I am deeply interested in our community and would welcome the opportunity to engage meaningfully with Edgecomb's residents to represent the needs and priorities of my neighbors.
