Friends of Thai Daughters 6th annual Sunflower Celebration, Auction July 11
Friends of Thai Daughters is hosting its annual Sunflower Celebration on July 11 in East Boothbay to celebrate its continuing success in preventing child trafficking in Thailand. The theme of this year’s event is Finish & Furnish - to complete construction and furnish Jasmine Farm, our newest Children’s Home with organic gardens, orchards, fish ponds and laying hens.
The Celebration is always tremendous fun and draws friends and supporters old and new from across the country and beyond. It features signature cocktails, delicious food provided by East Boothbay General Store, fresh oysters donated by Norumbega Oysters, and the main attraction: a spirited live auction of prizes donated by our generous supporters. This year, these include stays in Portugal and Nova Scotia, a five-star luxury visit in New York City and game fishing in Florida among many others. A special white line print from Villard Studios will also be auctioned off.
Friends of Thai Daughters was launched almost 20 years ago by Boothbay residents Jane McBride and Patricia Zinkowski when, during a trip to Thailand, they found several homeless and vulnerable girls fending for themselves. Today, the organization operates two Children’s Homes and provides services to more than 500 children in the surrounding communities. The program is managed and operated by Graduate Thai Daughters.
Join us and find out about the work we do, how the support our friends give here makes such a difference to young lives thousands of miles away. You’ll get the opportunity to meet several of our Thai Daughters and hear firsthand how FTD’s supporters have changed their lives.
