Thinking, talking
Months ago, Wiscasset’s economic development director, Aaron Chrostowsky, started calling selectmen’s attention to the town’s parcel that used to be Maine Yankee’s, off Old Ferry Road. The ideas have been numerous, and now the picture on potential uses is sharpening, with housing, one of the ideas that interested selectmen, potentially being at the forefront.
Whatever might result from study, planning and fund-seeking, at least people are thinking about it. And out of thought, can come an “ought,” a decision on what would best serve the town.
Just like with the sewer treatment plant’s move, who knows when that project or this potential project will break ground. It is still early. For a town, talking – the communication, through officials’ reports, letters and emails, and residents’ and officials’ public comments and discourse – enriches and informs a proposal, or shows if it is a non-starter.
Keep talking, and thinking, everyone.
Week’s positive parting thought: Want to do some more sharing about what you would like for the town? The comp plan committee’s next workshop is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14 at Wiscasset Community Center.
