Join KELT and Bath at play at the LOCAL Garden to celebrate a new space for kids
Celebrate the last day of summer vacation with the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust (KELT) and Bath at Play with an ice cream social at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 2. KELT welcomes families and friends to our LOCAL Garden, where we will be unveiling a brand new place for neighborhood kids to enjoy a community garden!
Together, we are excited for the grand opening of an imaginative reading nook at our LOCAL Garden: a beautiful wooden hobbit house built by Maine makers Wooden Wonders. Bath at Play has contributed a matching free little library, with reading choices donated by local authors and supporters. These new children’s play spaces will be tucked into our beautiful established community garden, with 42 raised beds and volunteers that have grown organic produce for food-insecure families in Bath for over a decade. We are excited for the collaboration of these two organizations to encourage outdoor play for all Bath kids and families.
Join us for “elevensies” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 2 for the Ice Cream Social. Suggested $5 donation to support the garden and for an ice cream truck on site! Grab an ice cream, explore the hobbit house, read a book in the garden, and let your kids revel in the final hours of summer freedom.
KELT's LOCAL Garden is located at 63 Lemont Street in Bath, at the corner of High Street and Lemont Street. This is a light rain or shine event and registration is strongly encouraged at https://www.kennebecestuary.org/upcoming-events/2024-local-social
