Julie Mitchell
Certified Integrative Nutrition Health CoachJulie has enjoyed teaching young children for nearly 30 years before choosing to move into a new career in Integrative Nutrition. Her interest was sparked when she observed the connection of the typical diet of highly processed, artificial foods and increasing chronic health issues, food sensitivities, behavior and learning issues. She also realized that some of her own health issues were stemming from stress and anxiety caused by the changing public school system. She now coaches individuals, couples and families and provides workshops and classes both in Integrative Nutrition and cooking.
Julie lives in Wiscasset with her husband, golden retriever and cat in an old farmhouse nestled on a hill overlooking the Sheepscot River. They have raised 5 grown children and enjoy art, music, cooking and traveling. Julie can be reached for questions or comments at: jmitchell.healthcoach@gmail.com

Sarah Thompson grew up in a household with at least one cat sharing the bed pillow at all times. She didn't see the Berlin Wall go up, but did watch it come down. Her energy and endurance were put to the test (mostly on the night shift) as an operating room technician for Labor and Delivery units in Maine and Colorado for ten years before a brief overseas volunteer trip prompted a change of occupation.
Originally from Central Maine, Sarah, her notebook, and a large cache of semi-dry ink pens now reside in the Midcoast. -
Thoughts and realizations of a spiritual nature, opening to the awareness of inner and outer light.
Seeing experience from a different perspective, turning it to catch the light.
Reflections on living the life of a Priestess in Maine, illumined by love and suffering, Earth’s gifts, and Divine Guidance.
ANDREA GOODMAN, owner of Ruby-Throated Spirit: Sanctuary, Voice Studio and Labyrinth, lives on Barter’s Island on the Boothbay Peninsula, since 1989. Coming from a New York City career as a pioneer of vocal music and innovative theater, she was ordained as a Priestess of the Ministry of Maat in 1998, and sees all her work, whether performing and teaching, counseling and healing, writing or composing, as priestess work. She offers voice instruction and vocal sound healing, creates original ceremonies for weddings and other life passages, gives readings of Mythic Astrology and Tarot, is a Reiki master, and has developed Cosmic Harmony, a group process of singing intuitively for the transmission of healing and visionary realizations. She is the author of Lightning Holds My Hand, a Woman’s Journal of Guidance, written during a difficult time, recording words of wisdom and compassion she received intuitively. Ruby-Throated Labyrinth, planted with calming herbs, is open to the public for walking meditation. For more about Andrea’s work: www.rubythroatedspirit.com

Most alternative solutions are based on knowledge gleaned from ancient, indigenous cultures, reaching back over 3,000 years and had been lost to us in our medical mire of high technology, HMO’s, and insurance driven care. In my opinion it is this medical swamp that has driven Americans into the offices of alternative practitioners throughout the country; spending billions of dollars looking for relief and cures for the enormous increase in cancer, auto-immune diseases, and chronic conditions that have no magic cures or quick fixes from the medical community.
Holistic medicine and alternative modalities have become much more available over the last 25 years witnessed by the boom in yoga classes, energy workers, naturopathic physicians and massage therapists in every community. In general, Holistic Medicine is an attitudinal approach to healing. It looks at each case, be it an accident or disease, as a total experience of the individual – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. In most cases in modern medicine the injury or illness is segregated and only the affected area is treated. Holistic means greater than the sum of its parts. In a holistic approach to healing the focus is on the whole person not on the disease or injury.
Professor Woodson Merrill from Columbia Medical School states, “If you don’t help patients to harness their own healing capacities, you are putting them at a significant disadvantage” In the months to come I hope to offer some “Alternative Solutions” that will assist you in harnessing your own healing abilities.

Just Ponderin’ will celebrate its tenth anniversary in August of 2022 and now (pinch us!) has thousands of followers from all around the world, including many who love and/or have connections to Maine. JoHn and I made a small island off of Boothbay Harbor our full-time home in 2017 and still can’t believe we get to live here. We now share our nearly 200 year-old home with a German ShepHerd harboring a royalty complex (HRH The Princess Bunny Blaze), and a new-to-us Second Hand Dog all the way from Oklahoma (Belle/Belle-ah). I’m thrilled to have Just Ponderin’ included in the Boothbay Register and Wiscasset Newspapers. Just Ponderin’ is chock full of observations on - and celebrations of - the ordinary and extraordinary bits of everyday life. If you want to get in touch, give me a shout at lisadingle@justponderin.com. And feel free to visit justponderin.com. I’d love that. Thanks for readin’. - Lisa

HOME SWEET HOME was embroidered on a framed sampler the living room at my grandpa and grandma’s farmhouse up on the mountain where we lived long ago and far from here.
Those were the first words of wisdom I learned to read, write and understand. Looking back today, I realize how this inspiring motto guided me throughout my life’s work of building my own home . . . sweet and truly mine. That plus my collection of bumper sticker wisdom.
I grew up, left home and explored various careers until I became qualified to teach Industrial Arts at my hometown high school. My plan to have my own home was in motion. I bought a modest little fixer upper at the edge of town. My intention was to fix it up, add an addition, live there awhile to make sure everything worked, sell it and finally start building my own home. I figured I could get most everything done during summer vacation. I was young and optimistic.
I learned a great deal from that first building project. So much that I’ll have to tell you more.
Meanwhile: THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
