Attempted scissor attack leads to assault charge
A 23-year-old Whitefield woman has been charged with two counts of domestic violence assault and domestic violence criminal threatening after reportedly threatening someone with a pair of scissors.
Jennylee Rines, 23, of Whitefield, was arrested May 21 after the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office responded to a call.
Sheriff's Deputy Jared Mitkus responded to the Whitefield residence after a caller reported that Rines was “out of control,” according to the arrest report. According to the same report, Rines reportedly attacked everyone in the house, and when Mitkus entered the house he found that Rines had to be restrained by two people.
There had allegedly been a verbal, then physical altercation, which reportedly started when Rines kicked a family member in the stomach.
It escalated until Rines reportedly grabbed a pair of scissors and went after someone in the house before she was restrained.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
Rines was held on a $2,000 unsecured bond and was ordered not to drink alcohol or take drugs and to not have any contact with three of the victims.
All three charges brought against Rines are Class D charges, which carry a maximum of one year in jail.
