An Albion man has been convicted of two crimes after striking a Wiscasset man with his car and threatening a mother and daughter.

Justin George, 25, of Albion, pleaded guilty to reckless conduct and criminal threatening on Monday, May 2.

George was sentenced to 60 days in jail and five years in prison with all of it suspended. George will be on probation for two years.

He was originally charged with elevated aggravated assault, which is a Class A crime, but the charge was dismissed.

The charges stem from a 2013 fight that sent a Wiscasset man to Maine Medical Center. On August 26, 2013, George drove from Augusta to Wiscasset to confront an ex-boyfriend of his current girlfriend.

George and the ex-boyfriend had a confrontation, and during that fight George made threats to a 50-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter, saying that he would return and blow up or burn down their apartment and kill them.

The police were called and George and his girlfriend left the scene, but not before striking the ex-boyfriend with a 1998 Audi. The impact was severe enough to smash the windshield and broke the victim's leg and arm, according to police reports.

George would turn himself in the next day after discovering a warrant for his arrest had been issued.
