Pair arrested after Bristol home burglary
A 75-year-old Alna man and a 53-year-old woman from Newcastle have been arrested and charged with theft and burglary after the pair allegedly broke into a Bristol man's house.
John Seigars, 75, of Alna and Nancy Hartley, 53, of Newcastle were both arrested June 25 by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kenneth Hatch.
The pair allegedly were caught by the house's owner as they were in the process; the owner then called police and tried to keep the pair inside the house, according to a report.
Seigars and Hartley still managed to flee the house before the Damariscotta Police Department was able to apprehend the subjects.
Hartley claimed that she had been living at the residence on Route 32, but had recently been removed and was taking back property that was her own.
The pair each faces a Class C charge of both theft and burglary, which carries with it a sentence of up to five years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.
The pair will appear at the end of August at Wiscasset Superior Court. Neither Seigars nor Hartley is allowed back at the Bristol residence.
