Assault involving event volunteers alleged near Wiscasset airport
A Wiscasset man volunteering for Wings Over Wiscasset on August 9 allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old boy who was also volunteering, police said.
Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline said that at about 10:20 a.m. Saturday, Bryan Buck, 61, was volunteering in an Old Ferry Road lot being used for people to park and take a shuttle to Wings, when he and the boy allegedly argued. Buck then allegedly knocked the boy’s hat off, by hitting the hat’s visor, and allegedly hit the end of the boy’s nose in the process of hitting the visor, Cline said.
“As a result of the subsequent investigation, the gentleman was charged with assault, (given) an arraignment date and removed from the venue,” Cline said.
“At a family event like this, if you step out of line, you will be charged accordingly. It’s not a matter of if, you will,” he said.
The boy was not injured in the alleged incident, Cline said.
The investigation into the alleged incident led to the only summons that had been issued at this year’s Wings Over Wiscasset; there had been no arrests, and no arrests or summonses last year when Wings was first held, Cline said Saturday afternoon.
