Wiscasset accident critically injures Edgecomb woman
An Edgecomb woman remained hospitalized Tuesday at a Lewiston hospital after the car she was driving on Wiscasset’s Gardiner Road on Nov. 8 crossed the center line, struck a ditch, went airborne, struck a tree and rolled over, authorities said.
A Wiscasset Police Department press release on Saturday identified the driver as Kristin Ramile, 25, of Edgecomb.
The Wiscasset Fire Department used its airbags and other equipment to free her from the overturned car, fire officials said. Wiscasset ambulance and fire crews met a LifeFlight helicopter at Wiscasset High School. The helicopter took Ramile on to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. She was listed in critical condition Saturday, according to police.
A hospital spokeswoman confirmed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, that Ramile was still a patient there. However, Ramile’s family has asked that updates not be released regarding her condition, the spokeswoman said.
Ramile was driving a 2007 Toyota Yaris southbound when the accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday, according to the police department’s release.
The car came to rest near 629 Gardiner Road, or Route 27. The road was at one point closed in both directions from Gibbs Road to Fowle Hill Road before reopening to one lane and then both, around 8 a.m.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jason Nein was reconstructing the crash, the release states.
