The Lincoln Home’s final talk in a free educational series on caring for someone with dementia is Tuesday, March 31, from noon to 1:30 pm.

Courtney Doherty Oland, RPh, MBA, FASCP, is co-owner and Director of Waltz Long Term Care Pharmacy, serving pharmacy patients residing in nursing homes, assisted living communities and rehabilitation centers from Bangor to all points south up to the Maine/New Hampshire border.

Waltz LTC is the largest private owned Long Term Care Pharmacy in Maine. Courtney will share her great depth of experience in pharmacy for dementia patients, giving a better understanding of a complex subject. An in-depth discussion of the bestselling novel, “Still Alice,” an excellent portrayal of an accomplished linguistics professor diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, will be held at the conclusion of the meeting.

Members of the public who have not been in our classes are invited to join our class members Friday, March 27, at 2 p.m. at The Lincoln Theatre to view the film, “Still Alice,” and join in an after-film discussion in the theatre. The conversation will be facilitated by the Lincoln Home staff, Lynn Norgang, RN, Millie Jones-Farnham, RN, and Linda Ross, RN, with Steve Raymond moderating.

Collectively they have many decades of professional dementia care experience, and very personal relationships to this difficult disease. Both the book and the film have been highly praised by the Alzheimer’s Association, medical experts in dementia care, film and book critics, and the book and film fans.
