Choice of books at story hour
Three special requests for stories were the books read at story hour this week at the Wiscasset Public Library’s Children’s room. Devon Roy chose “Wait For Me! Said Maggie McGee” by Jean Van Leeuwen. In the story, Maggie is the youngest of seven siblings and spends all her time trying to do the fun things her bigger and older brothers and sisters do.
The next requested story from Addison West was “Benjamin’s Barn” by Reeve Lindbergh. A boy named Benjamin imagined having his own barn and what he would do with it. Some of his larger than life ideas were sheltering a rhinoceros and hosting a reception ball for a king and queen.
The third request by Sadielynn West was to read the story “Gossie” by Olivier Dunrea. Gossie is a young, yellow gosling who loves to wear her bright red boots all the time. She wears them sleeping, walking, eating and bathing — until another gosling tries them on and likes them so much he walks off with them.
After enjoying all three choices of stories, the children started three seedlings with decomposable seedling cups and potting soil. We also decorated plant label sticks to remember the flower type we hope to see in the warmer months to come!
Story hour is every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Children’s Room in the Wiscasset Public Library. We are located at 21 High Street, all good listeners are welcome to enjoy a few good books and an activity to follow.
