Ellen M. Wanser, 71, of Flood Avenue, Wiscasset, Maine died Sept. 30, 2016.

She was born on Jan. 29, 1945, a daughter of George H. and Marcia E. (Bailey) Wilson.

After graduating from Wiscasset High School in 1963, she went on to become a registered nurse. On Dec. 16, 1967, she married Randy Wanser. She spent most of her career as a RN working in labor and delivery at Mid Coast Hospital.

Ellen loved nature and all of God’s creatures, finding joy through outdoor pursuits including bird watching, gardening and mushroom foraging. Time at camp and time spent with family and friends were precious to her. Her generous and faithful heart led her to support many charitable organizations. She attended the Wiscasset Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her mother, Marcia E. Wilson of Wiscasset; her husband, Randy Wanser of Wiscasset; three daughters, Rachael L. Wanser, Rhonda E. Wanser and Gina Wanser; one sister, Bernice Kenney of Cundy’s Harbor; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6 at the funeral home with Pastor Wally Staples officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath.
