The “6 x 6 x 6, #2” show up through Oct. 23
The Kefauver Studio & Gallery presents “6 x 6 x 6, #2,” an art show running through Oct. 23. The show demonstrates that “good things come in small packages,” as every piece in the show is only 6” x 6.” The show includes work by oil painter and gallery owner Will Kefauver, and the work of Kefauver’s nine guest artists. Each guest artist contributed six pieces to the show.
The mediums and styles represented in the show are compelling, with works by oil painters Elaine Abel and Liliana Thelander, acrylic painters Judy Nixon and DiTa Ondek, watercolorist Kathleen Horst, and photographers Judy Bernier, Claudia Noyes Griffiths, Ronn Orenstein, and Laurie Hanley Raba.
The subject matter is surprising and evocative. Visitors will appreciate the beauty of laundry on the line, the grace of a kitchen compost bin, the zen of a piglet, and the peace of moored boats and weathered buoys. Fruits and vegetables take a starring role, including the garlic, apples, squash, and lemons “borrowed” from Kefauver’s kitchen. “Sacrifices were made for this show,” says Kefauver in self-defense.
All artwork is for sale, and visitors will be pleased to learn that the small size of the original art has translated into affordable prices. There is artwork for every budget, and with the holiday season approaching, the show represents an opportunity to shop early for gifts that are unique, personal, and illustrate the charm of Maine’s midcoast and the talent of its artists.
The Kefauver Studio & Gallery is located at 144 Bristol Road, Damariscotta, and is open from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily. Will Kefauver can be reached at 207-226-0974, will@kefauverstudio.com, or www.kefauverstudio.com
