Jean Smalls
Jean Smalls, long time resident of Boothbay Harbor, died peacefully in her sleep Dec. 30, 2016 at the LincolnHealth - Miles Campus after a short illness.
Jean was born in Kharagpur, India on Oct. 6, 1929, the youngest daughter of Hillary and Noel Rosambeau.
Jean is survived by her sister, Colleen Doyle of Hingham, Massachusetts who was able to visit with Jean for two days before she passed away; her stepdaughter and her family; 10 loving nieces and nephews; cousins living in Massachusetts, Florida and the United Kingdom; and numerous grand-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Smalls and former husband, George Thornburg; her brother, Dudley Rosambeau, formerly of London; and sister, Pat Kohl, formerly of Cooper City, Florida.
Born in India, Jean lived in England, Canada and Massachusetts and wintered in Cooper City, Florida but her true love was Boothbay Harbor, Maine. She worked in banking in Boston and Maine and later in life for the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club. Jean lived on the harbor for many years before moving to St. Andrews Village where she resided for the last several years.
A woman of faith, Jean was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Boothbay Harbor and St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Hollywood, Florida and was active in Boothbay Harbor Resident Life.
From her family and friends, Jean will be remembered for her warmth, kindness and infectious laughter.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 82 Atlantic Avenue, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538 at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 7. Father Dominic will officiate. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church would be a wonderful remembrance.
