Call to Artists for ‘Faces & Figures’ show
River Arts in Damariscotta is inviting artists throughout Maine to submit artwork for jurying in its upcoming exhibition, “Faces and Figures” - including animals. Work can be delivered anytime during gallery hours until the deadline, which is Saturday, Feb. 11 at 4 p.m. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17.
Artists can submit up to three works in any medium including sculpture, photography, collage, painting, ceramics, and fine craft – representational or abstract. Submissions may not have been shown at River Arts previously. All work entered must be for sale.
Wall-hung work size maximum is 60 inches in height, 42 inches in width; for safety reasons, Plexiglass or other non-glass options should be used. All works should be wired securely with picture wire (not floral wire, not string, not fish line) at the time of submission - in short, all works must be presentation ready. All works must be labeled with title and artist’s name on the back.
River Arts encourages all artists to frame their works. Simple, well-constructed frames will give the gallery a more professional appearance. Your individual work will be greatly enhanced with proper framing. Table top frames do not hang well and we recommend that artists use standard wall frames complete with picture wire.
Entry fees are $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Entry forms are available online at http://riverartsme.org and at the gallery, at 241 U.S. Route 1 in Damariscotta.
Juror for the show will be Kris Engman. Artists will be notified by email or phone of the juror’s decision.
Queries and requests may be directed to River Arts at 207-563-1507 or by email at info@riverartsme.org. River Arts is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Closed Mondays.
