LCCT announces cast of upcoming ‘Mary Poppins’
Lincoln County Community Theater (LCCT), the resident theater company at Damariscotta’s Lincoln Theater, is pleased to announce the company of its upcoming production of “Mary Poppins – In Concert,” on stage at the Theater the weekend of March 17. Joining the chorale of 30 vocalists, known as The Spit Spot Singers, and accompanied by a full orchestra, The Poppins Pops, will be soloists from across Midcoast Maine - and they are:
Victoria Hamilton (Wiscasset) as Mary Poppins, Roosevelt Bishop (Southport) as Bert, Joel Biron (Topsham) as Mr. Banks, Emily Mirabile (Boothbay) as Mrs. Banks, Emme Harris (Southport) as Jane Banks, Andrew Lyndaker (Newcastle) as Michael Banks, Zora Margolis (Edgecomb) as Miss Brill, Laurie Brown (Nobleboro) as Mrs. Correy, Nina Tilander (Hallowell) as Miss Andrews, Jan Marie (Bristol) as the Bird Lady, and Benjamin Proctor (Brunswick) as Robertson Ay.
Based on the series of children’s books by P.L. Travers and the Disney film, “Mary Poppins” is the story of the Banks family who live in a big house in London at 17 Cherry Lane. Things are not going well for the family. The children, Jane and Michael, are out of control and in need of a new nanny. They have their own ideas about what sort of caretaker they should have, while their parents — particularly Mr. Banks — are insistent on someone strict for the job. When a mysterious young woman, Mary Poppins, appears at their doorstep, the family finds that she’s the answer to their prayers, but in a most peculiar way. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones she has a profound effect upon. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “anything can happen if you let it.”
The production is conceived and directed by John Mulcahy with the generous support of HM Payson and Newcastle Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Viper.
