Betty N. LaPointe
Betty N. LaPointe, 90, of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, formerly of Wrentham, Massachusetts, died peacefully April 8, 2017 in Maine. She was the beloved wife of the late Edmond J. LaPointe.
Born in Newton, Massachusetts on May 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Bertha (Wormwood) Wright. Betty worked with her husband Edmond in their family plumbing business, B & E Plumbing and Heating, from the 1960s through the 1980s. She also owned and operated Bet’s Coffee Shop in Norfolk in the 1970s. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, parties, dining out, knitting, and reading.
Betty was always quick to meet new friends and she was passionately involved in her community. She was a friend to all around her, and was never afraid to share her opinion or lend a helping hand. In Bayville, where she summered for most her life, Betty was well-known for her devotion to neighbors and active engagement in the Bayville Improvement Association. In the last few years of her life, she wasted no time getting acquainted with the staff and fellow residents at St. Andrews Village, actively participating in community events and activities. All those who knew or met her were left with a lasting impression of a unique and special lady.
Betty is survived by her children: Nancy E. Strojny and husband Theodore of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, William E. LaPointe of Wrentham, Massachusetts, and Lawrence W. LaPointe and wife Margarita of Crofton, Maryland. She was the devoted grandmother of Diana Frascella and her husband Matthew of Medfield, Massachusetts, Andrew Strojny and his wife Jennifer of Ponte Vedra, Florida, Nicole LaPointe and her wife Amy LaPointe of Boston, Massachusetts and Amanda Kate Strojny of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Josephina Frascella, Presley Frascella, Hannah Strojny, Mallory Strojny, and Emma LaPointe.
She was the mother of the late Bradford E. LaPointe, and sister of the late Ralph Wright and Walter Wright.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, April 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South Street, Wrentham, Mass. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 20 at 10 am in Trinity Episcopal Church, 47 East Street, Wrentham, Mass.
