"Wonder Woman" gets her own feature film after an appearance in last year's “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” In this new film, American pilot Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) crashes offshore of the island of Themyscira during World War I, where he meets Diana, princess of the Amazons, who has been trained to be an unconquerable warrior.
Raised on the sheltered island paradise, Diana learns of the massive war effort raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time to fight alongside men in a war to end all wars.
Reviewing for Newsday, Rafer Guzman writes, “’Wonder Woman’ isn't just a triumph for women, it's a triumph, period. This is grand entertainment with rousing action, sparkling humor, a romantic streak and a titanium-strength debut from Gal Gadot in the title role.”
“Wonder Woman” plays evenings at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 7 through Thursday, June 15, and Sunday afternoon, June 11 at 2 p.m

NT Live: “Obsession” - Jude Law (The Young Pope, Closer, The Talented Mr. Ripley) stars in the stage production of Obsession, captured live from the Barbican Theatre in London. Ivo van Hove directs this new stage adaptation of Luchino Visconti’s 1943 film in which we meet Gino, a drifter, down-at-heel and magnetically handsome. At a road side restaurant he encounters husband and wife, Giuseppe and Giovanna. Irresistibly attracted to each other, Gino and Giovanna begin a fiery affair and plot to murder her husband. But, in this chilling tale of passion and destruction, the crime only serves to tear them apart. This 2-hour encore presentation plays Thursday, June 8 at 2 and 7 p.m.
“Their Finest” - The year is 1940, London. With the nation bowed down by war, the British ministry turns to propaganda films to boost morale at home. Realizing their films could use "a woman's touch," the ministry hires Catrin Cole (Gemma Arterton) as a scriptwriter in charge of writing the female dialogue. Although her artist husband looks down on her job, Catrin's natural flair quickly gets her noticed by cynical, witty lead scriptwriter Buckley (Sam Claflin).
Catrin and Buckley set out to make an epic feature film based on the Dunkirk rescue starring the gloriously vain, former matinee idol Ambrose Hilliard (Bill Nighy). As bombs are dropping all around them, Catrin, Buckley and their colorful cast and crew work furiously to make a film that will warm the hearts of the nation. Rated R, “Their Finest” plays at 2 and 7 p.m. Friday, June 9, Saturday, June 10, Sunday, June 11 and Wednesday, June 14.
NT Live: “Peter Pan” - All children, except one, grow up … Captured live at the National Theatre (a co-production with Bristol Old Vic), a recorded performance of JM Barrie’s much-loved tale comes to Lincoln Theater. In return, she is invited to Neverland, where Tinker Bell the fairy, Tiger Lily and the vengeful Captain Hook await. A riot of magic, music and make-believe ensues. This 2 hour-50 minute production screens Saturday, June 10 at 10 a.m.
