December artists at BHML
Photographs by Betsy Bass and Pamela Logan will be on display throughout December in the upstairs Community Room during normal library hours. A reception will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 4.30 - 6.30 p.m. when guests will have a chance to meet the artists and discuss their work.
Betsy Bass grew up in Wilton and on Sugarloaf Mountain. She and her family are now full-time residents of Carrabassett Valley.
"My career and photography have intertwined," Bass said. "I started taking pictures with a Brownie camera as a child. My enjoyment of nature, especially of water, led me into a career in oceanography, limnology, resource management, and environmental education. I used my photos to create teaching material, in addition to capturing my daughters as they grew, and to create artistic photography. I especially enjoy macro photography.”
Her work has been exhibited at High Peaks Artisan Guild in Kingfield, Carrabassett Valley Library and Community Center, Boothbay Region Art Foundation and Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. For those interested in finding out more about her work, she can be emailed at betsybass52@gmail.com.
Photographer Pamela Logan has been searching for new and different perspectives for over 30 years. A recent full-time resident of Wiscasset, she is frequently overheard saying “gotta switch it off Macro.” Focusing on the wonder of nature and micro detail, you may find her yellow VW Beetle pulled over to the side of the road, deep in the woods, along the shore, or just popped out the sunroof, camera to eye. If so, give her a wave, if you beep you may scare off the elusive fisher cat she has been trying to photograph.
Logan has photographed several book covers and biography head shots. She has also filmed, edited, and produced many stage production DVD’s and YouTube videos. Her work can be found at www.pamelalogan.com, “And … That’s a Wrap” a sunset every day, or “Photo of the Day” on Instagram.
