Wiscasset sixth grade math class meets Red’s Eats
Debbie Gagnon, co-owner of Red’s Eats, is a substitute teacher for the Wiscasset School Department during the winter months, when she’s not pumping out lobster rolls at Red’s.
On Wednesday, Jan. 10, she partnered with Wiscasset Elementary School’s gifted and talented teacher, Rachel Hamlin, to “support a math lesson on percentages and sales tax and make it more meaningful to sixth grade students,” according to Principal Stacy White.
Gagnon showed up with with Red’s Eats hats, T-shirts and a menu, and the students participated in a mock sale. “Students were highly engaged and motivated throughout this activity,” White said in a press release.
After all was said and done, a raffle ensued, and some of the students were lucky enough to take home a Red’s Eats hat or T-shirt.
