Dear Editor:

Here’s another “good news” story involving the Wiscasset Police Department.

At the height of last week’s powerful storm Chief Lawrence Hesseltine in his co-role as Wiscasset Harbor Master was notified that my boat had broken loose from its mooring. In order to reach the vessel which was destroying itself against the rocky shore of Whites Island, the Chief negotiated the decrepit bridge from the mainland. After wading into deep and cold surf he secured the boat to a piling before returning, soaking wet, to call me before going on to his other duties. This much appreciated service was above and beyond expectations!

Wiscasset is very fortunate to have Chief Hesseltine on the job!
