George Yanez

A man who was court-ordered to refrain from contacting an alleged victim from an earlier crime, not possess alcohol, and not return to a home in Whitefield was arrested after he allegedly went to the victim's house in Whitefield and drank vodka.

George Yanez, 41, of Whitefield was charged with felony violating the conditions of his release after the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office found him at a Whitefield residence.

According to the arrest report, Yanez is on bail conditions following an arrest for domestic violence. As part of those bail conditions, Yanez was court ordered to not return to a Whitefield residence and to have no contact with one of the home's inhabitants. Yanez was also court-ordered to neither possess nor consume alcohol and is subject to random searches.

At 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Jared Mitkus and Sgt. Jason Nein went to the Whitefield residence where they spoke with the person Yanez was not supposed to be in contact with. According to the person, Yanez was upstairs at the residence, where he was reportedly court-ordered to not return.

Nein and Mitkus allegedly found Yanez in a bed upstairs; Yanez also reportedly admitted to having drank vodka, and Mitkus reported that Yanez slurred his speech when he spoke.

Yanez was arrested and charged with Class C violating the conditions of his release. Class C crimes are felonies, and are punishable by up to five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Yanez was held on a secured, no third-party $25,000 bail. As part of his new bail conditions, Yanez was ordered to have no contact with the victim, to refrain from using or possessing alcohol and to not return to the Whitefield address where he was arrested. He was also ordered to not possess or use deadly weapons.

Yanez is scheduled to have an Oct. 26 court date at the Lincoln County court house in Wiscasset.

Yanez was previously indicted by the Lincoln County Grand Jury in 2014 for one count each of domestic violence criminal threatening, assault and domestic violence assault.
