Alna’s new fire truck arrives
The Alna Fire Department’s new pumper-tanker arrived at the fire station on Route 218 on June 29, about 14 months after voters agreed to buy the truck.
Standing beside it Monday afternoon, Fire Chief Mike Trask said he was glad and excited for the department to have the truck. Residents agreed in 2014 to buy it for nearly $300,000, including a foam system that Alna has not previously had for fighting fires. The truck can also pump 1,500 gallons of water per minute, Trask said. It was built in Nebraska, then went on to a New Haven, Conn. dealer that added equipment before delivering it to Alna.
The truck will enter service later in July after department members have been trained to drive it and use the foam system and other equipment, Trask said.
