Maine Supreme Judicial Court is set to hear from lawyers for Wiscasset and Mason Station on Friday, April 10, in Mason Station’s appeal of a lower court’s ruling.

Mason Station has claimed that Wiscasset is double-dipping by seeking back taxes even though the town has taken dozens of former Mason Station properties.

The town contends that letting Mason Station challenge Wiscasset’s pursuit of back taxes now would encourage foot-dragging in other civil cases.

Mason Station’s appeal seeks to vacate an August 2014 decision in Lincoln County Superior Court in Wiscasset. The Superior Court denied Mason Station’s request for relief from a 2013 judgment in the town’s favor.
