Babb exhibition at Miles Memorial Hospital
Well-known artists in their own right, Bruce and Julie Babb will be sharing an exhibit of their works in the Hall Gallery at Lincoln Health Center Miles Campus Hospital from Oct. 22 through Nov. 25. The exhibit is open to the public, and all works will be for sale.
Bruce Babb is known for his meticulous work with marquetry, an old-world art form using wood veneers to form designs and patterns. Bruce’s work is extremely precise and beautifully finished. The veneers come from all over the world. He has used quilt patterns, Persian motifs and designs of his own creation, as well as interpreting boats, oceans and skies using the grains and colors of the wood.
In addition to this exhibit, Bruce’s works can be seen at Gifts At 136 in Damariscotta, seasonally at the Pemaquid Art Gallery at Lighthouse Park, and The Good Supply in Pemaquid.
Julie Babb is known for her extremely detailed representational paintings of birds and natural subjects. Her preferred medium is gouache, an opaque form of water color. She has won numerous awards for her works, including Best of Show at the Maine Sportsmen’s Alliance Wildlife Art Show in Augusta. Julie also teaches classes in gouache painting for Adult Education and at River Arts, as well as private instruction.
Julie’s work can also be seen at the River Gallery in Damariscotta, Ducktrap Bay Trading Company in Camden, seasonally at the Pemaquid Art Gallery at Lighthouse Park, and in Nov. at the Bayview Gallery in Brunswick.
