Boothbay woman arrested after allegedly breaking into apartment
A Boothbay woman was arrested in July after allegedly sneaking through an apartment window and attacking people inside while she was drunk and on bail conditions.
Jamie Rudd, 32, of Boothbay was arrested July 18 by Boothbay Harbor Police Department and charged with one felony and three misdemeanors following an alleged break-in.
According to arrest documents from Boothbay Harbor Police Officer Larry Brown, police were called to a Commercial Street apartment July 18 for a report of a disturbance.
When Brown spoke with the residents of the apartment, they reportedly said that Rudd had allegedly entered their apartment through a window before allegedly starting to punch and scratch two people in the apartment.
Brown discovered that Rudd was on bail conditions to neither consume nor possess alcohol; Brown wrote in his report that he could allegedly “smell alcohol on her breath and she admitted having consumed alcohol.”
Rudd was arrested and charged with four crimes.
Rudd was charged with one count of Class C aggravate criminal trespass, two counts of Class D assault, and one count of Class E violating the conditions of release.
Class C crimes are felonies and are punishable by up to five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. Class D and E crimes are misdemeanors, and are punishable by up to 364 days or six months in jail, respectively. Class D crimes are also punishable by up to a $2,000 fine while Class E fines max-out at $1,000.
Rudd was on bail conditions after being charged with two counts of Class E disorderly conduct on July 2 in Damariscotta. According to the arrest documents, Rudd allegedly “did knowingly accost, insult, taunt or challenge another with offensive, derisive or annoying words, or by gestures or other physical conduct” which would potentially cause a violent response from another person. Rudd is also alleged to have “recklessly cause(d) annoyance to others by making loud and unreasonable noises.”
She was scheduled to have an Aug. 13 arraignment for the two disorderly conduct charges.
Rudd was ordered to have no contact with the people who were in the apartment at the time of her alleged intrusion, and to submit to searches and refrain from using or possessing alcohol or drugs. She was held on $500 cash bail at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. She will have an Aug. 24 court date at Lincoln County Courthouse in Wiscasset.
