Carlo Albucci at Gold/Smith Gallery
Carlo Albucci paints his dreams. Born and raised in Florence, the capital of Tuscany, he was taught by the nuns and priests and they have an active role in those dreams.
His dreams are funny, ironic and pure Italian. He dreams of pizza, clear blue skies, farm animals, historical moments and highly unlikely scenarios mostly with nuns and priests as protagonists. Why the clerical you might ask. Carlo sees the humor in them, but with great respect also. He captures their celebrations of life, adventure and hope with oil on Masonite and tongue in cheek.
His joyous paintings will be on display at Gold/Smith Gallery, 8 McKown Street, Boothbay Harbor May 30 through July 2.
There will be a reception for the artist First Friday, June 7 at the gallery from 3 to 6 p.m. with refreshments - and perhaps a Skype hookup with Carlo Albucci around 4 p.m.
The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. For more information the gallery may be reached at 633-6252.
