Celebrate spring at March and April community literacy events
These creative community gatherings at the Merry Barn Writers’ Retreat are free and open to children, adults, and elders alike. Gatherings highlight creativity through read alouds and hands-on projects.
Join us on Saturday, March 19, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., for Planting Spring! March is the month when spring returns! What better way to celebrate than to gather for a read aloud of “A Seed is Sleepy,” a nonfiction book about the magic of nature. Design and paint your own flower pots, and plant seeds to welcome the season.
An Earth Day Stargazing Party will be held on Friday, April 22, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A time to appreciate our beautiful earth, this gathering features a visit from Jamie Hogan, author of “Skywatcher,” a lovely story about a boy in the city who longs to see the stars. We’ll gather in the early evening to create our own stargazing masks, draw constellations, and witness the starry sky.
