Celebrating spring at the Merry Barn
It was raining outside, but there was plenty of sunshine in the Merry Barn as we celebrated spring with friends of all ages at our March Community Literacy Event. We read “A Seed is Sleepy,” painted our own flower pots, and planted sunflower seeds. Kids checked out books from the barn’s extensive library, and even had an impromptu dance party.
Our next community literacy celebration will be held on Earth Day, Friday, April 22, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Author and illustrator, Jamie Hogan, will join us for a reading and booksigning of her newest work, “Skywatcher.” We’ll design our own stargazing masks and head outside for a look at the night sky. As always, these events are free and open to the public.
Ms. Hogan will also be joining campers at Celebrating Mother Earth, a four-day April vacation adventure, April 19-22. She will be sharing A Warmer World to help us research animals impacted by climate change and create “zines” to tell their stories. Camp will be filled with time outside and in – sketching, writing, reading, creating – and having fun! Kids ages 6-13 are welcome.
